Beavers
Our Beaver colony is for boys and girls aged 6 to 8 years. It's a great place to hang out and get introduced to scouting through fun games and activities.
Cub Scouts
Cub Scouts is for boys and girls aged from 9 to 11 and it's a great way to make loads of new friends and have a whole lotta fun too!
Cubs usually meet once a week in the local scout den but that's only half the story! About once a month, the pack goes hiking, swimming, camping, to the cinema or wherever you wanna go! That's the cool thing about Cubs, you help decide what the pack does; where else will you get that kinda input!
Each cub pack runs on what we like to call the 'gang system' Each pack is broken into smaller groups called sixes and each six has a leader called a sixer: no, not an adult, a kid just like you! With the help of the sixers, the leaders in the group plan exciting activities and games for you to take part in - its great! Sometimes Cubs even stay overnight in the scout den where they practice the stuff they're learned and have fun too! They also go on one or two weekends away throughout the year. They often spend weekends camping in Larch Hill at the foothills of the Dublin Moutains.
Scouts and Cubs operate on a merit system which is part of the program of each section. Time is put aside in the weekly meeting for planning and achieving badges and awards as a symbol of their achievements. These achivements can be in a vast range of activities, some are tackled as part of the group for example hiking and camping badges others on an individual basis. The list is vast and varied for cubs and scouts:
Scouts
Scouts is a range of program ideas designed to appeal to young people in the twelve to fifteen year age group. Young people change a lot during these ages and begin to look for more challenge and more responsibility so the program is flexible to allow this to happen.
Each scout troop has a number of patrols and each patrol has between six and eight members including a patrol leader who looks after the patrol and ensures that everyone knows whats going on. The Navan Road scouts in recent years have gone on annual camps to France, Switzerland, Jersey and the UK as well as taking part in MPC, (Mountain Pursuit Challenges) and camping/hosteling weekends in various locations in Ireland.
Venture Scouts
Venture Scouts is a group for 15 to 18. Verturers take on more responsibility for planning and organising their own programmmes whilst all the time improving their own skills. Venture Scouts often take a bigger role in contributing to the overall running of the group by nominating one or two people from the section to represent them at group council. In this way ventures have a real say in the running of the group, not just their own venturer section. Venturers organise their own annual camps which have taken them to various places around the globe. They have also had adventures like Shannon cruising. They also enjoy multiple weekends camping and hostelling.

Each Cub pack, Scout troop or Venturer section is run with the assistance of team of adult scouters that in turn reports into Group Council. The Unit Council records progress and activities in each section and ensures standards are met and maintained.
